The asking price is $63 million for the Point Grey house owned by Canadian philanthropist Joe Segal and his wife Rosalie. It is listed by Sotheby’s International Realty, which is reporting no one’s ever paid that much for a single family home in Vancouver.

The waterfront property at 4743 Belmont was built in 1992. Situated on 1.28 acres, the 21,977 square-foot property has two main gallery halls with seating for 80 to 100 guests for private concerts and events.

The five-bedroom, 12-bathroom mansion had an assessed value of slightly more than $40 million last year.

Belmont Estate’s other features include a six-car garage, elevator and indoor pool. Inspired by the French gardens of Versailles, it features a tiered, 3-level garden and a hobby orchard.

The area’s also believed to be home to five of Metro Vancouver’s 10 most expensive properties, including the home of Lululemon founder Chip Wilson.

The Segals have done extensive charity work, but they’re best known as land developers and owning the Zellers stores before they were sold to Hudson’s Bay.
