As of 2:55 pm on Sunday afternoon, Cultus Lake is the hottest place in BC and Canada.
The Lower Mainland recreation site is seeing a temperature of 34ºC while the province’s cold spot is more than 20 degrees cooler.
Holland Rock, near Haida Gwaii, is seeing a current temperature of 11.3ºC
Canada’s cold spot is the Svartevaeg in Nunavut with an afternoon temperature of -13.2ºC.
Although Environment Canada has not issued Sunday’s weather temperature records, Hope very well could break a daily mark.
On Saturday, 18 new daily temperature records were set but none went past 32ºC.
Temperatures are only expected to increase across the province on Monday.
Cities in the Interior like Kamloops are expected to see 32ºC on May 15 while Kelowna and Penticton are forecast to see a high of 31ºC.
Even cities on the coast, like Victoria, are expected to an unseasonable high of 28ºC. The hot weather is also moving north with Prince George expected to see up to 29ºC.
“While the developing heat conditions may result in daily temperature records being broken, it must be emphasized that the expected hot conditions will not approach those reached during the "Heat Dome" of late June 2021,” says Environment Canada in a weather advisory.
