VIDEO: BC Mountie under investigation following motorcycle stunt

Squamish RCMP has launched an investigation into a video where an alleged officer performs a dangerous motorcycle stunt.

On Saturday, Aug. 10, footage posted to Instagram from the Squamish Motorcycle Festival shows an unnamed but uniformed officer go wheel-to-wheel with another motorcycle as crowds look on.

Both vehicles quickly accelerate and begin to spin their wheels before lurching forward into nearby motorcycles and witnesses causing multiple crashes.

BC RCMP, BC RCMP Traffic Services and several local media outlets were tagged in a Tweet also showing the video along with the caption "Anyone have an explanation for this?"

"The actions of the officer are not in keeping with my expectations or that of the RCMP," Supt. Holly Turton said in a statement on Thursday.

"We expect our officers to exercise better judgement than what was displayed in the video."

According to the official website, the Squamish Motorcycle Festival is an annual event to raise money for the local food bank that promotes test rides, stunts, bike show, food and live music.
