In this episode of Rick and Friends, Scott Lanigan, the executive pastor of Trinity Church Kelowna, joins Rick Maddison to share thoughts on sports, housing issues and dream concerts.
As parents, the two discuss their responsibilities and what they feel they need to be doing to support their child.
“It's a necessity of a parent to check in regularly and often,” says Lanigan.
They emphasize that no two children are the same and you should customize your expectations and communication methods to each of your kids.
The pair briefly touch upon the after effects of COVID-19 and how the pandemic created worldwide fear and uncertainty over healthcare.
Lanigan shares that his dream concerts would have been either Prince or Micheal Jackson, and would one day love to see Coldplay.
They discuss minimum wage jobs and recognize that younger people are frequently refusing these types of jobs in the hopes they can find something with better pay elsewhere.
Maddison and Lanigan discuss how unaffordable homes pose a problem for the younger generation, particularly in Kelowna. As the population surges, houses become even more expensive.
“We need more creative solutions,” Lanigan says in response to this issue.
