(UPDATE: May 16 @ 2:25 pm) - Hwy 97 is still reduced to single-lane alternating traffic between Summerland and Penticton following Monday night's landslide.
"Crews are waiting for geotechnical assessment and have equipment on standby ready for clean up," says a social media update from AIMRoads.
"Once we are given the clear by the assessors, we will begin clean up and get the site cleared as quickly and safely as possible."
Drivers are urged to proceed cautiously through the area and follow the directions of traffic control personnel.
(UPDATE: May 16 @ 6:15 am) - Hwy 97 has reopened to single-lane alternating traffic between Summerland and Penticton.
The route shut down between 7-8 pm Monday after a landslide brought a significant amount of debris down onto the route.
Footage of the slide from just north of the scene shows how significant the incident was.
Yet, somehow, crews were impressively able to clear the highway by 1 am and safely reopen it to traffic.
No injuries have been reported.

(Original story: May 15 @ 8:10 pm) - Hwy 97 is shut down in both directions between Summerland and Penticton.
The closure is due to a landslide that has brought rock and debris down across most of the highway near Lakeshore Drive South.

Video footage of the slide shows that the debris is several feet deep on the side of the road closest to the mountainside.
DriveBC says crews are on scene and an assessment is in progress.
However, there's no estimate yet on how long it might take to clear the rubble and DriveBC advises motorists to expect "major delays."
