UPDATE: One dead after Hwy 97A crash

(UPDATE: 6:00 p.m.) – The RCMP has confirmed that a person has died after an accident along Hwy 97A in Spallumcheen earlier on Friday.

They offered condolences and said no more information would be released.

UPDATE - RCMP can now confirm that one person has died as a result of their injuries from the motor vehicle incident that occurred earlier this morning on Highway 97A in Spallumcheen. Condolences to family & friends during this time. No further information to be released.

(UPDATE: 12:45 p.m.) – Hwy 97A is once again open to traffic south of Armstrong, says DriveBC.

The road was closed earlier in the day following a series crash that sent three people to hospital, one in serious condition.

With the current weather comes poor driving conditions, however, so drive slowly and carefully out there.

(Original story: 11:10 a.m.) – RCMP are on the scene of a serious crash involving two vehicles on Hwy 97A.

The accident happened near Pleasant Valley Road, just south of Armstrong and has resulted in the closure of the highway.

There’s no estimated time for the road to reopen, as RCMP collision analysts are currently on scene.

Both drivers and one passenger have been transported to the nearest medical facility.

One of them is in critical condition.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing and the cause of the crash is not yet known.
