After barely missing the podium last week, the UBCO women’s golf team made the most of their return to Nevada and played to a third-place finish.
The Heat competed in the RMC Intercollegiate tournament at Reflection Bay Golf Club earlier this week.
Led by Julia Alexander-Carew, UBCO finished with a score of 76-over par.
Alexander-Carew finished in sixth place individually after three rounds, playing to a score of 12-over par with the help of a stellar second round.
Joining the rookie in the top 10 was third-year Lauren Nedo, who finished in a tie for eighth place at 15-over par.
Rounding out the Heat squad were Bess Chan and Emily Cornwall, who finished 13th and 16th respectively.
The UBC Thunderbirds took the crown at the event after shooting 29-over par. In second place was the Ottawa Spirit, a school in Arizona, at 65-over par.
Next up for the Heat is the Victoria Vikes Spring Shootout, taking place March 18-19 on Vancouver Island.
