The RCMP continues to enforce a Supreme Court injunction at Fairy Creek, with a total of 165 arrests so far.
Yesterday, a total of seven people were arrested as police removed protesters from various locking devices.
“We want to emphasize that the RCMP is impartial in this dispute,” the RCMP said.
“The Supreme Court of British Columbia granted an injunction order, which are mandatory directions for the parties and the police. The RCMP is not at liberty to choose which law to follow, nor do we have the option of refusing to enforce Court Orders and injunctions.”
This week, Premier John Horgan announced the province's intention to modernize the forest industry.
Part of the proposed plan was to redistribute forest tenures to Indigenous Nations, forest communities and small operators.
Additionally, the government laid out a timeline to act on the recommendations of the Old Growth Strategic Review. A new old growth strategy would come into effect in 2023, according to the report.
No immediate action was announced for the dispute at Fairy Creek.
