Victoria Royals forward Brayden Shuurman has been ranked as the 58th best North American skater in the latest prospect rankings released by NHL Central Scouting on Wednesday.
Through 30 games this season, the 18-year-old has tallied a respectable 17 goals and nine assists placing him second on the team with 26 total points. Additionally, he leads the Royals with six powerplay markers while adding three game-winning-goals.
Shuurman has developed strong chemistry playing alongside Bailey Peach on Victoria’s top line where the two routinely fill the scoresheet with goal/assist combos.
The Abbostsford, BC native has recorded 37 points in 53 career games for the Royals after being selected by the club in the fourth round of the 2019 WHL draft out of the Yale Hockey Academy.
Shuurman had been previously named in the preseason players-to-watch list released in October and is currently projected to be a middle-round pick in the 2022 NHL draft. Armed with strong offensive instincts, quality puck handling skills and the ability to routinely find the back of the net against the WHL’s top talent, he would be a strong choice for a team looking to build forward depth in this year’s draft.
