Imagine travelling the world, with an eye on new adventures. Now imagine doing it with your dog. Mark and Mya are proving it's possible. And by recording and blogging their exploits, they've managed to pick-up sponsors to help cover their costs.
Mark and Mya took some time out of their active schedule for an interview at KelownaNow to explain how they've been able to turn their love of adventure into a vocation.
Mark enjoys skiing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, mountain biking, multi-day hikes, rock climbing, kayaking and more. And he says dog owners here are lucky to have places like Big White to make pets and their owners feel welcome.
The duo keeps their multitude of followers up-to-date on their social media platforms.
"The gondola at Big White is pet friendly, and there's a whole heap of activities," said Mark, "like snow shoeing, nordic skiing, fat biking..."
And he was thrilled to find hotels like the Fairmont in Vancouver that not only allow dogs to stay, but really make them feel welcome. "They've got a room service dog menu believe it or not."
Mark and Mya have been particularly enthralled by their Canadian trips and Niagara Falls was another favourite.
"To be able to share that experience with my best friend who's been everywhere with me, recalls Mark, "for the two of us to look at those huge falls. That was pretty incredible as well."
The pair are at Big White right now and will be there until Thursday.
