A Leger poll conducted for the Association for Canadian Studies found most Canadians don't want to relax physical distancing rules. So what about the other third?
When we asked about it on the streets there were few people willing to suggest it's time to let down our guard.
One man said he was 50/50 on the question. "Yeah, we could relax, but is there going to be consequences,", he said. And another suggested "we should relax it and shorten up," he said. But most respondents are resolved to continue what they're doing until health officials advise otherwise.
"Play it safe, " said one woman. "It's not worth it if we did it all and then for nothing", said another.
"My thought is you keep the social distancing," added another man, "until the health minister says it's all clear."
66% of respondents to the online poll say two metres should remain the safe distance to keep between people. Only 12% favour reducing the distance to 1.5 metres as is the case in many European countries.
The minimum recommended by the World Health Organization is 1 metre.
46% of the people polled say they find it stressful to leave the house and go out in public. 74% of respondents say they believe there will be a second wave of COVID-19.
