"If you're out there, we would really like you to reconsider,' said Ian Galt. The Kelowna man was at home caring for his son's 18-month old Golden Retriever when he heard the sound of someone opening up his gate. He watched helplessly as a woman hurried-away down his street with the beloved pet at her side.
It happened Saturday night, the family is offering a 2 thousand dollar reward for the safe return of the dog. Today, the RCMP released surveillance video hoping it will generate some leads. In an interview with KelownaNow, Galt appealed directly to the abductor of the dog. "Please return Atlas," Galt pleaded. "I'll meet you. I'll bring the money. I'll come on my own. I'll come on your terms. But we'd just like to see Atlas back."
The pet was last seen getting into an SUV with the woman and heading south on Pandosy Street.
When contacted about the incident, Galt's son Taylor was devastated. "He had to stop work. He couldn't work, he was just so upset," said Galt. The RCMP are taking the dog knapping very seriously. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
