The City of West Kelowna announced on Wednesday that Rotary Trails Park will be closed until further notice.

The Parks Department for the City is currently monitoring parks to see how the spring runoff is affecting them.

When crew members checked on Rotary Trails Park they noticed that Powers Creek has flooded, leaving some trails under water.

“Rotary Trails Park is quite a low park, it’s next to the lake. It’s not uncommon for Powers Creek to overflow,” explained Kirsten Jones, Communication Supervisor.

Parks staff will visit Rotary Trails Park every day to check on the condition of the creek.

The gates will remain closed to prevent the public from accessing the trails for the time being.
