Cool overnight conditions help fire fighters battle Cinnabar Creek fire

UPDATE (10:15am):

Crews are now in the mop up stage for the Cinnabar Creek wildfire. The fire is estimated to have burned three hectares of land above Westside Road. The fire is 100 per cent contained but the public can expect to see crews working in the area over the coming days as fire fighters work to put out the fire.

“Please stay out of their way, do not drive over hose lines, and watch for and yield to emergency vehicles,” said the Central Okanagan Emergency Ops in a press release. Westside Road remains single lane alternating traffic through the fire zone, located north of Lake Okanagan Resort south to Denison Road.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, the cause of the fire remains under investigation and it is suspected to be human-caused.
