UPDATE: More road closures and a planned power outage for West Kelowna

(UPDATE: 9:15 a.m.) - Further road closures, along with an impending power outage, have been announced by the City of West Kelowna.

Gellatly Road, from Witt Road to Boucherie Road, is now closed as BC Hydro conducts an emergency relocation of a power pole that was compromised due to Smith Creek flooding.

This process will cause the power to go out for residences and businesses in the area starting at approximately noon on Friday.

The outage will last for approximately 12 hours and effect around 6,000 BC Hydro customers.

The City of West Kelowna is also watching Hitchner Road as McDougall Creek has overflowed.

Residents have sandbagged certain sections and so far there are no serious concerns for Hitchner Road at this time, but it is being monitored.
