UPDATE: Body found in West Kelowna last week identified as 31-year-old Kelowna man

(UPDATE: Aug. 8 @ 10 a.m.) - The RCMP and BC Coroners Service have positively identified the remains found in West Kelowna on Thursday, Aug. 2.

"The deceased has been identified as a 31-year-old Kelowna man," said Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey, noting that his exact identity won't be released for privacy reasons. "The man’s family have since been notified of his sudden passing."

"As a result of the investigation to date, police do not believe that criminality was involved in his death."

His remains were spotted by a member of the general public about 200 metres down the embankment at the intersection of Campbell Place and Campbell Road.

Emergency officials arrived on scene and confirmed that he was in fact dead.

The investigation into his death continues and there is no further information available for released at this time.

(Original story: Aug. 3 @ 10:30 a.m.) - The BC Coroners Service and RCMP have entered a joint investigation into the discovery of a body overnight in West Kelowna.

On August 2, 2018, shortly after 8 p.m., RCMP responded to a report from a member of the general public spotted an individual laying approximately 200 metres down an embankment at the intersection of Campbell Place and Campbell Road.

This investigation remains in its early stages, as the police work together with the BC Coroners Service in an effort to positively identify the remains,” states RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. “Although early indicators suggest that criminality was not involved in the person’s death, a final determination has not yet been made with respect to criminality at this time.”
