Kelowna’s Wine Country Half Marathon is going to look a little different this year.
Impact Events is amping up this year’s half marathon to give the two-day event a full festival feel.
That means wineries, breweries, food trucks, vendors and games will all be involved this year.
“We are looking forward to showcasing more of what the Okanagan has to offer at our 5th anniversary event,” explained Christina Ferreira, owner of Impact Events, who took over planning the event in early 2018.
“We are doing this by expanding the businesses showcased at the post run event as well as bringing in more local suppliers included in the run and festival operations.”
There’s also a new date for this year’s event, which was typically held during the Labour Day long weekend in September.
It will now by held on June 22-23, right in the middle of outdoor festival season in the Okanagan.
“We have 15 wineries, breweries and cideries taking part in the post-race celebrations, as well as a food truck, local vendors and interactive games,” Ferreira said.
Also new to this year’s marathon is a 5 kilometre route option, as well as a recovery tent for runners.
Marathoners will start their run at Vibrant Vines Winery with the finish line being set at Waterfront Park, where the festival fun will be held.
