For the second time in less than a week, the RCMP in West Kelowna are investigating a report of another attempted child abduction.
Shortly after 3 pm on Sunday, officers were told that a 10-year-old girl was offered a ride by a man driving a silver car.
She was walking westbound on Pritchard Drive near Barona Beach when the man drove up beside her and asked if she wanted a lift.
The young girl declined and ran up the street to where her older sister was waiting for her, while the suspect raced away at a high rate of speed towards Boucherie Road.
According to police, the man is described as having dark skin with a possible East Indian accent.
He’s reportedly around 30 years old with bushy eyebrows, a large nose and a beard.
Cst. Lesley Smith says frontline officers are continuing to investigate Sunday’s incident and an alleged child abduction attempt from last week, but they don’t believe they’re connected due to the difference in the suspect descriptions.
Families are reminded to stay alert and vigilant while walking in the community and to report any suspicious vehicles or people to the RCMP.
Anyone with information regarding Sunday’s incident is asked to call the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880 or report tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477.
