In what was considered a foregone conclusion, the Kelowna Owls earned a 15th consecutive trip to the B.C. School Sports senior AAA field hockey championship tournament on the weekend.

An 11-0 victory over the Penticton Lakers in the Okanagan Valley final at CNC’s Mission Stadium vaulted the Owls to the 2016 provincial event being hosted by Kelowna Secondary School on the water-based turf in Surrey Nov. 9-11.
Deziree Day scored five times in the lopsided pennant-winning match while Grace DeMug added three goals for the Owls whose field hockey teams have won 48 straight games in Valley play during the past few years. Isabelle Seifert, Payton Hinks and Holly McGarvey rounded out the KSS scoring.
Expected to be seeded in the No. 5 to No. 7 range in the 16-team provincial tournament, the Owls have racked up a 13-8-7 record in league and tournament play this season.
Other members of the team, coached by Arnar Bernhardsson and Brian DeMug are Grace Fecht, Lonika McKinney, Julia Costa, Leanna Wong, Hannah Phelan, Zoe Brown, Kaitlyn Kruger, Katarina Czenczek, Natalie Hope, Hannah Rimland, Summer DeGuevara and Ashley Kowal.
