KSS Owls fall short in attempt at three-peat as Western Canadian Tournament Champs

The Kelowna Secondary School (KSS) Owls, led by Mason Bourcier's 35 points, were in position to win their third consecutive Interior Savings Western Canadian Basketball Tournament championship holding a 64- 59 lead with 7:50 to go in the game.

However, with the win in sight, a few missed opportunities and two fouls on Gator's leading scorer Jake Cowly, in which he sank all four free throws after, gave Walnut Grove the 73-68 win.

The energetic hometown Owls crowd did all they could to inspire the Owls to the finish line. One could argue that the Owls fan base could use a bigger venue as their home court was packed wall to wall.

A better-balanced scoring team may be one of the biggest factors in the win for the Gators, with leading scorer Cowley putting up 27 of the 73 points, or 37% of the offense.

The Owls, on the other hand, really counted on Bourcier who had 35 points, 51% of the offense for the KSS team.
