There’s no stopping Denis Shapovalov.
The 18-year-old Canadian is onto the round of 16 at the U.S. Open after another dominating performance.
On Friday, he beat Britain’s Kyle Edmund 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, 1-0, after Edmund had to retire due to injury at the start of the fourth set.

It wasn’t the start Shapovalov envisioned, losing the first set 6-3, which also happened to be the Canadian’s first lost set of the tournament.
He rebounded well, however, taking it to Edmund in the second set and earning a 6-3 win right back.
A nagging injury started to affect Edmund’s play in the third set and Shapovalov took advantage with another 6-3 win.

The teenager was poised for the knockout punch in the fourth, but it was unnecessary because Edmund was forced to retire due to that injury just one game into the set.
The win follows up a pair of upsets in the first two rounds, over Daniil Medvedev and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, and sets up a matchup with 12th ranked Pablo Carreno-Busta in round four.
Shapovalov is only four wins away from an unfathomable win at the U.S. Open, but even his round four berth is something to applaud.

He’s the youngest player since Michael Chang in 1989 to reach the fourth round of the U.S. Open.
Shapovalov and Carreno Busta will take to the court for that fourth round match on Sunday, but the time hasn’t been unveiled yet.
