Touchdown Kelowna watch parties announced as more tickets go on sale

The CFL is coming to Kelowna in just over a week.

The first of two BC Lions games at the Apple Bowl will take place at 4 pm on Saturday, June 27, as the Leos take on the Calgary Stampeders. BC battles Edmonton a week later on Saturday, July 4.

There’s been plenty of festivities announced for Touchdown Kelowna, as residents and visitors can expect nine days of all-ages programming in Waterfront Park around the games.

According to the City of Kelowna, those plans now include game-day watch parties on June 27 and July 4 for those who won’t be inside the Apple Bowl cheering on the Lions in person.

Of course, there’s plenty more to do on non-game days, including an Alan Doyle concert to kick off Touchdown Festivities on June 26 and a visit from the Grey Cup on June 28.

Tickets have been going fast for the actual CFL games in Kelowna, but the Lions announced today that more are being made available.

As the expansion of Save-On-Foods Field at the Apple Bowl nears completion, the organization is ready to offer more seats to fans beginning at 2 pm today.

“When we first announced this historic two-game series back in September, the goal was to be able to host 18,500 fans,” explained Lions president Duane Vienneau.

“With the build nearing 100 per cent completion, we are confident we will hit that and exceed expectations with new seats added in the Grandstand and expansion of the Party Zone.”

Vienneau added that “the excitement and enthusiasm in Kelowna is off the charts.”
