The now month-old eruption of Iceland's Bardarbunga volcano still makes great pictures, especially when you add in a bit of snow.
Winter has begun at the Holuhraun eruption site, and photographer Kerstin Langenberger was there to capture it. The pictures show the stunning magma meeting with the new covering and snow, and it's absolutely gorgeous. "I can't believe I witnessed this," said Langenberger.
The first fissure eruption began a month ago on August 29, and yet the lava field in Holuhraun is continuing to grow. Last Saturday it was 44 square kilometres, and the Iceland Institute of Earth Sciences is reporting that there are still no signs of the eruption being in decline.
Officials have three main scenarios that they thinks are likely, with two of the three including another eruption.
