Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for several regions in the B.C. Interior including the Similkameen and Okanagan Valley.
A series of powerful storms is expected to hit the province on Thursday and Friday and the first storm will pass through the Interior on Tuesday evening. The second, more powerful storm will hit the Interior on Thursday and Friday and will produce strong winds and heavy rain.
Regions such as Kelowna will see strong winds beginning Thursday afternoon and into Friday. Rain showers with light to moderate amounts are also expected. Heavy rain is expected to fall in the Kootenays and Columbias during this same time.
It is uncertain as to when the storm will exit into Washington State and Environment Canada says it could linger over the southern part of the province all day on Friday. The public is being told to monitor forecasts for further warnings.
