Drivers on major Southern Interior highways are being warned to expect strong, gusty winds today.
Environment Canada has issued special weather statements for the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt, the Coquihalla from Merritt to Kamloops and the Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Kelowna.
The weather agency says a vigorous trough will cross the Southern Interior, bringing strong southwesterly winds early this afternoon.
Wind gusts of 60 to 80 km/h are expected.

Driving conditions may become challenging, especially for tall vehicles and transport trucks.
Environment Canada says winds are expected to ease to moderate gusts by midnight.
Drivers are reminded that mountain weather can change suddenly, creating hazardous road conditions.
