Kelowna weather: Sunny, hot, thunderstorms later

Kelowna is in for a hot day, with sunshine through the morning before showers and a risk of thunderstorms develop later on.

Temperatures begin at 14ºC early this morning and will climb quickly under sunny skies.

The forecast calls for temperatures to reach 30ºC by early afternoon, with humidex values making it feel closer to 32ºC.

Conditions are expected to turn more unsettled by mid-afternoon, with a chance of showers and a risk of thunderstorms.

The chance of showers increases to 60 per cent by the evening and continues overnight.

Winds will pick up from the south at 20 km/h later in the day.

Temperatures will remain mild overnight, falling to around 16ºC by early Friday morning, with showers and a risk of thunderstorms still possible.
