I’m shocked that it has taken me this long to write an article about floral prints, because florals are my one true love. I don’t know what it is, but something about these prints makes me happier than a kid (or me) in a candy shop. Flower prints are generally a good staple to have for spring, but they are going to be particularly popular this year. With all the sunshine that February has brought us, it definitely feels like spring is on its way. I still really love one of my favorite trends from last year, the patterned pants look, so I thought I would combine these two styles in order to show you a few different ways to incorporate some floral patterns into your wardrobe this season. These H&M leggings have become one of the immediate go to items in my closet.

It can be a little tricky to wear patterned pants in a casual way just because they are quite a standout piece. Try to combine them with some neutral coloured items to tone down your look, like this grey cardigan and top and army green jacket. You’ll come out with a look that’s incredibly simple but still shows that you put in some effort.
Top: American Apparel, Blazer: H&M, Shoes and Necklace: Urban Planet
These floral leggings are really easy to wear for a fun night out on the town. Dress them up with a soft chiffon top, a blazer and some edgy accessories, like these gold tipped shoes and funky necklace. These leggings would also look great under a simple tunic dress for a more feminine evening look.
Top: Forever 21, Sweater: BCBG, Boots: Winners
This outfit can seem a little crazy, but it’s also really fun. I think it’s important to take risks in your fashion choices. Even if you don’t get it right every time, it’s still great to try new things and take a chance with your style. My recommendation with trying out this look is to pick two different floral patterns that have some kind of similarity between them that will draw them together, like colour or style of print.
Jacket and Top: Blonde, Boots: Aldo
I think masculine femininity is a good way of describing my personal style. I love to mix soft, pretty pieces with more male inspired cuts and items. Throw on a little bit of faux leather and other masculine textures to change up the overly feminine vibe of your typical floral ensemble.
If you’re a little bit unsure or timid about this look, you can always try getting some floral print pants in a more neutral hue, like a black and white or a monochrome floral print. I find trying out new fashion choices tends to be less scary when there is less colour involved. You don’t need to worry so much about mismatching and you can focus on the pieces themselves instead.
