The Kelowna Rockets captain Madison Bowey is back from training camp and ready for this next season.
He arrived in Prince George Friday night, but too late to help in the Rockets win. The Washington Capitals released Bowey Friday morning from the NHL training camp. This year was Bowey's second training camp with the Caps, and he was a second round draft pick.
“I felt the camp went well. I did some good things out on the ice,” Bowey said. “I thought I could have had a better rookie game but that being said, I learned a lot and grew more as a player, on and off the ice.”

Last season, Bowey beat Tyson Barrie's 2008/2009 Rockets franchise record of 19 goals, scoring a total of 21 goals in the season. Now that he's a year older and has another NHL camp's experience, Bowey says he's ready for his fourth full season with the Rockets. “I’m looking forward to joining the boys and bringing all the great things I’ve learned back to Kelowna. It’s going to be an amazing year.”
Bowey's expected to play in the rematch against Prince George Friday night.
Now only Tyrell Goulbourne (Philadelphia) remains with an NHL team. Players Rourke Chartier, Justin Kirkland, and Mitch Wheaton had their season debuts on Friday.
On Wednesday night, the Rockets will play their home game against the Vancouver Giants.
