If you have been looking for a way to challenge yourself this summer and support a great cause while doing it, Mike Woodward and Rob Montgomery have the test for you.
Cycling 4 Water is a ride across Canada to raise awareness and funds to create clean water wells in Africa. The duo has partnered with GAiN, a global aid network, in their 8,500km journey from Victoria, B.C. all the way to St. Johns, N.F. Mike and Rob will be joined by three others including two cyclists, Timo and Richard, as well as Jacquie, Richard’s wife, who will be driving their support vehicle.

Millions of women and children in rural Africa are forced to walk for hours carrying heavy containers in the hopes that they are bringing back enough for their whole family. Not only is the water extremely difficult to retrieve, it also often contains disease. A far cry from heading over to the tap and pouring themselves a glass the way most of the rest of the world does.
The funds raised by the cross-country venture provides deep, capped wells that deliver clean waster to save lives while also improving the communities affected.

You can help this cause is many different ways, even if you are not a cyclist! The team is looking for donations, riders, sponsors, and even people to host the team as they cycle for water. If you do want to join them on their trek even for a brief period, the team will be departing from Victoria B.C. on June 30 and will head through and make a pit stop in Kamloops on July 3rd.
