Meet Darcy. He grew up in Alberta but lived in Vancouver for almost 20 years before moving to Kelowna in 2008!
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
This would be plural- my family, Wife Shauna, Son Jack and Daughter Jade. Beacuse my business has no end time each day, I try to spend the little spare time with them and love to get outdoors in Kelowna for hikes, biking around town.
What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Today it is actually VR Arcadia. The Virtual Arcade which is amazing. A great place to unwind and forget about work or daily stress. The whole family loves it and we are frequent visitors. LOL
Describe yourself in one word.
Workaholic
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Australia. I travelled Australia for a year prior to meeting my wife and would love to take the family back and experience it again with them. It is an amazing place to travel.
What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Friday happy hours at our neighbours. We were fortunate enough to gain some amazing neighbours and now have weekly friday happy hour(s) with about 6 families and all the kids
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
In a foreclosure settlement for our listing, I had to get the Judges attention, I jumped up and said " Excuse me your Majesty". Well the Judge loved that.
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
I met a family almost 25 years ago when I was a waiter at a restaurant. They came back multiple times to sit in my section. Then one day the dad/husband asked me to come over for dinner to their place. A weird request but I accepted. When I arrived, I found out he saw great potential in me as a future Realtor and wanted to sponsor me. Well 25 years later. They are like my second family and I am in Real estate and proving him right.
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
I have three brothers and we lived in a very small town in Alberta. It was Cochrane, which had about 2,500 people at the time. On our walk to and from school we would travel along a creek literally from our house to the school. So every winter we would strap on the skates and be able to skate to and from school everyday. In the summer we would stop and fish along the banks. It was such a great experience to be able to do this in a small town.
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
Currently we are working with the KGH Foundation to give back to a number of their initiatives, Like the Foundry and now Joannas House. Plus we will be volunteering this year for Joannas house fund raising campaigns as well as Habitat for Humanity.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Our current BC Government
Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Our backyard
Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
Kelowna is a great city with huge potential. I think we need to work with Developers, City of Kelowna and the current residents to create a city that will grow into itself not out of itself. We need to create incentives and opportunities for growth while maintaining our beauty and attraction for tourists or future homeowners.
What do you think makes Kelowna great?
Everything. Just take a moment to look around lakes, wineries, views, weather, and activities
What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1.Climb Mount Rainier. I have been fortunate enough to summit Mount Adams and Mount Hood. So we are now planning Rainier in 2018.
2.Travel Australia with the family for 30-90 days. Want the kids to experience this before they get to old and have other activities that may prevent us from taking the time to travel for this length.
Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I used to sleep walk and walked from a friends home to my house while asleep.
How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
Facebook, Linkedin, kelownarealestatepros.com or the old school way by the phone
What is the name of your business/organization?
Nyrose & Associates
Why did you get into/start this business?
The family I met in the restaurant. He convinced me I would be great at it. I love what I do!
What is the goal of your business?
To ensure all of our clients are happy with their real estate transaction but also to create a business my kids could also be a part of if they choose.
What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Learning to relax and enjoy today and not worrying about tomorrow.
If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
If I knew what I know now. I would have bought every piece of real estate I could have gotten my hands on. People always think Real estate is expensive until we look back and wish we bought. Hindsight is always 20/20 but real estate is a great purchase.
What do you always find yourself saying?
Write me a list
Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Today is gone, so don't waste it. I have had many family members pass away including a brother and I always wish I spent more time or did more things with them and Dean because tomorrow is too late.
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
No one in particular but I always love to sit with an elderly person who has lived in one area for a long time to hear how things were and how things have changed. I sat with Mr. Tutt a few years ago at an open house and it was astonishing the stories he told and how Kelowna was and changed over the years.
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
Because we have great local shops and lets support our fellow neighbours!
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Climbing Mount Hood and Mount Adam
Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
Impact Builders- They are incredible builders and always looking and asking for ways to improve their building process and service.

Some general comments I would like to share are:
We have lived in Kelowna for 10 years now and think it is a great place to raise kids, grow old and work. Who else can say they drive by the best beaches and lakes too and from work every day?
