In Focus | Giuseppe Gaspari

Meet Giuseppe, he has lived in Kelowna his whole life. Guiseppe loves yoga and believes that the thing you need most is often in the place you least want it to be!

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My dog, Enzo. Does that count?

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
The downtown Bean Scene location because I do a lot of remote work and that place is perfect for it.

Describe yourself in one word.
Gregarious

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
I would fly out to where ever an F1 race was happening next.

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Walking downtown on the boardwalk.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
There are too many to mention... However, there was this one time I was in a yoga class. My shoulder blades rolled on the mat and it made a sound like I passed gas.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
It would have to be watching my mom beat a cancerous brain tumour is probably the most inspiring. It took a long time, the fight was never easy but she didn't and hasn't quit.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
When I was a child, my father had bought a couple miniature dirt bikes for my brother and me to learn how to ride. My friends heard all the commotion and came to see what was happening. I remember my dad sat there for what felt like hours begging me to get on the bike while I cried in full dirt biking gear on the side of a road because I was scared of the noise.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I volunteer at the food bank, various marathons, triathlons and biking events around the city. I'm always looking for an opportunity to give my time to a good cause.

"Those that can, do. Those that can do more, volunteer."
-Ron Maclean

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
I would make it easier for caregivers to find help.

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Any of the random little beaches would do :)

Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
I think small business and entrepreneurship are the backbones of our city. Anything that helps us or helps students to find meaningful work in Kelowna would be great.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The people who are here throughout the winter.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?

  1. Watch an F1 Race in every city.
  2. Speak in front of 1000 people.
  3. Write up a real bucket list.

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I don't eat berries (not even cherries or peaches either.)

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
My Instagram or my LinkedIn :)

What is the name of your business/organization?
High Impact Consulting

Why did you get into/start this business?
There is a big gap between what top-tier consultants are saying and what local businesses are doing. I try to bring that up to my clients.

What is the goal of your business?
If local businesses succeed, then we all succeed.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Being a caregiver has taught me more about myself than anything I've ever done. I wouldn't call it a struggle but it's no cake-walk.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
I would love to take what I know now and send it to my past self somehow. But everything happens for a reason and this ride isn't over yet.

What do you always find yourself saying?
Low hanging fruit keeps you full. You can't be "above" doing an activity if it put's you closer to your goals.

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
The thing you need most is in the place you least want it to be.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Apart from my family, I would choose Gary Vaynerchuk or Daniel Ricciardo.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
Your only real vote is with your wallet. Be mindful of where you spend your money and what you spend it on.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
I helped The View Winery market a recent event and boosted ticket sales from 50ish to over 500 in a couple of weeks.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
My manager Calvin Lechner, the guy is a beauty. Also, my little brother because he is a workhorse that has accomplished everything he's put his mind too.
