Concentrate Beer: Just Add Water

Would you try a portable beer concentrate that you could take anywhere with you and all you need to do is add water to enjoy a cold pint?

Pat’s Backcountry Beverages has introduced such a product ideal for the outdoorsy type. The company offers beers and sodas in a soft packet that contains the ingredients as a gel. The company’s Pat Tatera calls the process “Hybrid Brewing Technology." Each packet contains 1.7 ounces of product, with 6.1% alcohol and requires carbonated water to enjoy.

The Beverage company will sell you an entire Carbonator Kit to get you started on the products but a system such as Soda Stream would work, or even regular club soda. The process is fairly simple and requires only three steps. First you load one of their special canisters with activator, and then the brew concentrate is added. Next you carbonate the beverage with their fancy little machine. That’s it. You now have fresh, cold beer.

The company sells two types of beer and five varieties of soda. Since Pat’s is not a liquor retailer they cannot ship alcohol across state lines or into Canada but next time you’re in the States it might be worth looking for on store shelves.
