Peachland’s Pincushion Quilt Guild (PQG) has plenty to show off next month.
They’re preparing to host a show called Quilts by the Beach for the first time since 2019, ending a five-year hiatus with a triumphant return on June 7-8 at the Peachland Community Centre.
“The long break since our last show in 2019 means that everyone has some amazing quilts to show off,” said Erin Galley, PQG president.
“And we are really proud of this year’s raffle quilt, which is an exceptionally beautiful combination of curved piecing and hand applique.”
The show will take place from 10 am until 4 pm on both Friday, June 7, and Saturday, June 8, and it will cost $10 to attend.
Traditional, modern and art quilts, as well as other unique fibre art, will be on display.
The PQG will also host a tearoom for attendees to take a break from the show and a merchant wall will showcase a wide variety of quilting-related merchandise from BC entrepreneurs.
Around 2:30 pm on Saturday, a ‘Quilt of Valour’ will be awarded to a deserving veteran in recognition of their service.
An hour after that, the winning raffle ticket will be drawn and one lucky attendee will get to take home the beautiful quilt shown above.
The PQG meets weekly to work on projects, as well as share friendship and inspiration.
They donate dozens of quilts a year to various community groups like the Women’s Shelter, Neonatal Unit at Kelowna General Hospital, the Salvation Army and victims of natural disasters.
