Social Media Outraged After Vet Shows Picture of Cat She Killed

A Texas Veterinarian is coming under fire after bragging on Facebook that she allegedly killed a feral cat with a bow and arrow.

Kristen Lindsey, a vet who worked in Brenham, Texas, took to social media to post a photo of herself holding a dead cat along with some insensitive remarks about the incident. “My first bow kill… lol. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through it’s head. Vet of the year award… gladly accepted” wrote Lindsey with the graphic photo of the dead cat.

The 31-year-old sparked outrage online after people couldn’t believe what they were seeing, a vet whose job it is to protect and help animals so senselessly killed one, and then bragged about it. Action was swift as the Austin County Sheriff was flooded with comments as people demanded an investigation into the incident.

“We have a Deputy and a Lieutenant on the scene at this time, conducting the investigation,” said the Sheriff’s office. “A lot of concerned individuals are calling our dispatch for information. As we are trying to conduct normal operations of dispatching Police, Fire and EMS, our dispatchers are being snowed under answering calls about our investigation. We are asking you to please take it easy on our dispatchers. As soon as the investigation is complete, we will post the relevant information.”

In the meantime, the Texas Veterinary Medical Association says that Lindsey has been fired from her job in Brenham.

“Upon learning of the troubling misconduct, the Brenham clinic where the veterinarian was practicing immediately condemned her actions and terminated her employment. The clinic’s ownership and staff have expressed their deepest shock and disgust at such behavior and are regretful that the individual acted in a manner that so drastically deviated from the conduct and values the clinic has upheld in its community for years,” said the Association in a release.

Several Facebook pages and petitions have appeared online demanding that Lindsey’s licence be revoked and that charges are brought against her. The poor cat at the centre of the tragic incident, Tiger, was reportedly a neighbour’s cat that had gone missing several days before.
