After the original limited recall for Robin Hood brand All Purpose Flour was sent out on April 4th, the recall has now been expanded to include multiple brands and varieties sold across Canada.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued the expanded recall on April 12, adding additional Robin Hood products as well as other brands of flour.
“This recall was triggered by findings by the CFIA during its investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak,” notes the CFIA, adding they are conducting a full investigation.
Consumers are asked to check their flour at home, and throw out unused product, or return them to the store from which they were purposed. The CFIA is making sure stores do not have the recalled items on their shelves.
The recall stems from an initial report of E coli illness tied to Robin Hood flour, which prompted the March 28 recall. That recall was expanded once the following week, prior to Wednesday’s further expansion.
“There have been reported illnesses associated with flour; however, at this time, there have been no confirmed illnesses associated with the products identified in this Food Recall Warning,” notes the CFIA in conjunction with the current recall.
