Newsweek and Statista.Inc have partnered to deliver what they call a "groundbreaking" report that ranks every major hospital in Canada.
The report drew its data over four months from an online survey that invited the country’s doctors, hospital managers and other healthcare professionals to participate.
The hospital’s recommendation from peers, the patient’s experience, and medical Key Performance Indicators (data on quality of treatment and hygiene) were all considered by the survey.
Hospitals had to have a capacity of at least 100 inpatient beds to be considered and every hospital in the country was rated by a score.
The first B.C. based hospital to be ranked was Victoria's Royal Jubilee Hospital, which has a capacity of 500 beds, and was pegged at number seven with a score of 87.8.
Kelowna General Hospital was ranked 23rd, with a score of 85.1 and a capacity of 711 beds.
