More than 18,000 Sunbeam heated blankets have been recalled.
According to a recall notice posted by Health Canada, the blankets pose a potential fire hazard.
“Star Elite has learned that the Sunbeam® Queen Size Heated Blanket model number 32810027 can potentially overheat, posing possible burn or fire hazards,” explains the notice.

More than 18,220 blankets were sold in Canada from September 2022 to January 2023.
The blankets were sold with detachable controllers and in the following colors: ivory, beiger, light green, light blue, dark blue, burgundy, dark grey, light grey and grey violet.
Anyone who bought a blanket is advised to immediately stop using the item and unplug it. People can contact Star Elite for a full refund, says the notice form Health Canada.
As of March 8, the company has received seven reports of incidents but no reports of injuries in Canada. There have been 13 reports of incidents in the US.
