Kelowna Toyota supports Mamas for Mamas with a $33,000 donation

Kelowna Toyota has been one of Mamas for Mamas biggest supporters over the years.

“I remember when Mamas for Mamas was just a baby charity and we were looking for donations for our mental health program,” explains Shannon Christensen, Founder and Director of National Development at Mamas for Mamas.

Through a series of connections, Kelowna Toyota and Mamas for Mamas were brought together, and Kelowna Toyota wanted to help support their mental health program.

“They did a $20,000 donation and it covered the entire mental health program for our first year, so it was a really big deal,” she continues.

As part of Kelowna Toyota’s grand opening in July 2022, they donated a total of $100,000 to three organizations in the Kelowna community, including Mamas for Mamas, which received $33,000.

“It was the biggest donation we’ve ever received, and it was right at a time that we were facing a new influx of need,” says Christensen.

The organization used that money to create their payday loan relief program to help get mamas out of the payday loan cycle.

These are just a few of the incredible things Mamas for Mamas has been able to do for the community using generous donations from Kelowna Toyota.

Mamas for Mamas is a national charitable organization that supports mothers and caregivers in crisis by providing ongoing support to individuals and families facing various poverty-related struggles.

Their mission is to change the landscape of poverty through innovative approaches to financial barriers faced by struggling families to create a future where no Mama or child is left behind.

If you want to support Mamas for Mamas too, you can bid on some of the incredible items in their auction. The auction closes on Nov. 15, so make sure you place your bid while there's still time!
