4 of the best smoothie bars in Kelowna

Whether you’re finishing a workout, having a busy day where a sit-down meal is out of the question, or just looking to have a nutrient-rich midday snack, a smoothie is the perfect thing! As we move into warmer weather, it’s finally time to get excited about cool drinks and bright fruit flavours – ie. delicious smoothies! Here are 4 local establishments with serious smoothie game.

Glow Juicery

If you’re looking for a plant-based, fuelling smoothie, look no further! Glow Juicery on Dayton and in the Innovation Center will satisfy all of your smoothie needs.

They’re all vegan, packed full of nutrients like protein and fibre, and rich in antioxidants from energizing fruits and vegetables. They also source locally whenever possible!

Smoothies can be made with your choice of organic almond or coconut milk.

They have organic “shots” to add to any smoothie: Ginger Wheatgrass, Organic Tumeric, Orange Juice, or Black Pepper, all made by local company Avenue M (but Glow cold presses the orange juice for the shots).

Try their new “Matcha Glow Smoothie,” with banana, pineapple, kale, and matcha. Perfect for spring, with a caffeine boost from the powerful matcha green tea!

Nature’s Fare Apple Bistro

Nature’s Fare has more than just groceries for your health: their Apple Bistro makes an incredible array of both fresh and grab-n-go smoothies!

They have everything from super green smoothies to high-protein shakes, and all have your health and wellness in mind.

Smoothies can be made with your choice of milk (coconut or almond), and have a wide range of protein options: Whey, Organic Hemp, Fermented Vegan, and Fermented Greek Yogurt protein.

Try the “FIERCE” smoothie with vanilla, coconut milk, banana, protein (of choice), cocoa, Udo’s oil, and maca.

Oranj Fitness

Oranj Fitness is the spot for a great workout, and a delicious post-workout smoothie! All of their smoothies are 100% vegan and are made with superfoods that will keep you feeling hydrated and full -- all of their smoothies are considered meal replacements.

They have 8 different smoothies to satisfy whatever your favourite flavour is, made with fresh fruits and vegetables, hemp seeds, chia seeds, and protein powders.

One smoothie, the “Pep in my Step” is even made with coffee, and this month’s feature smoothie is made with water kefir!

Try the Green Goddess with spinach, kale, avocado, banana, strawberries, pineapple, maca, and goji. For an extra burst of flavour and Vitamin C, they can make it with “Oranj” juice instead of water (see what I did there?).

O-Lake Café & Bistro

O-Lake Café & Bistro is sweet little café on the corner of Lawrence and Pandosy has all the hallmarks of a great bistro, including an awesome smoothie bar.

They even have Okanagan-themed recipes like the Okanagan Apple Smoothie, with apples, cinnamon, yogurt, and caramel; and, the Ogopogo made with banana, honey, milk , vanilla yogurt, spinach, and lime juice.

If you want to try something different, get a Gypsy King, with banana, dates, peanut butter, maple syrup, and milk – it tastes like something out of your childhood and will give you a serious burst of energy! All smoothies can be made with your choice of milk: dairy, soy, coconut, or almond.
