A Kelowna Mountie has been assaulted after boarding a bus in Rutland.

Police said the incident occurred at the 200 block of Rutland Road North between 6:15 pm and 7 pm on Thursday evening.

They added: “The assault resulted in a large police presence around the bus before the individual was placed in handcuffs and transported to cells.”

The RCMP said the officer has remained on duty despite the attack.

Police are now asking for dash cam or security footage from the area between 6:15 pm and 7 pm.

Anyone with information is asked to call 250-762-3300 and reference the file number 20024-27587.
