Blasting to resume on section of Hwy 1 through the Shuswap

Construction on the Trans Canada Highway is resuming through the Village of Chase as part of a larger four-laning project.

Late last week, the Village of Chase issued a notice of construction to its website.

The notice says blasting work will resume on the south side of Hwy 1 on June 3 and continue until mid-December.

CIF Construction says blasts will be happening between 9 am and 3 pm daily, with the exclusion of Sundays and holidays.

“Traffic will be held at pre-identified locations both east- and westbound on Highway 1,” the notice says.

Travellers can expect closures up to 20 minutes to allow for the blasting.

This section of work is part of a larger project that includes improvements to Highway 1 between Kamloops and the Alberta border, which includes four-laning work through the Shuswap and the recently-completed Kicking Horse Canyon project.
