Canada’s oldest beer festival is heading to the BC Interior this year

The Great Canadian Beer Festival is going on tour.

It has been held in Victoria for the past three decades and that will remain the case this year, but it will then pack up and head east for an encore in the Kootenays.

Following its usual weekend celebration in Victoria on Sept. 8-9, the GCBF will hit the road and head to Cranbrook for a single day of festivities on Saturday, Sept. 23.

It will all go down at Balment Park in Cranbrook from noon until 5 pm, and showcase some of the finest craft beers from across British Columbia and Canada alongside entertainment and plenty of great food.

“We are very excited to partner with the GCBF and the BC Ale Trail to bring an event like this to Cranbrook,” said Kristy Jahn-Smith, executive director of Cranbrook Tourism.

“This city likes beer and an event that showcases beers from across Canada right here in Cranbrook is bound to be a hit.”

There will be a lineup of close to 100 beers, including a few ciders and non-alcoholic beers, at the GCBF in Cranbrook.

Tickets, which are currently $35, get you access to the festival plus 10 drink tokens to get your day started right.

You will get a four-ounce tasting glass upon entry and it will cost one token to fill. Tokens are available for $2 each once you run through your first 10.
