The BC Highway Patrol has confirmed that a multi-vehicle collision near Rogers Pass on Tuesday night was fatal.
Emergency crews responded to the crash on the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1), around 47 kilometres east of Revelstoke, around 10 pm.
According to the BCHP, it involved a passenger vehicle with two occupants and a commercial transport truck with a trailer.
Unfortunately, a 55-year-old man who was in the passenger’s seat of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of that vehicle was transported to hospital in serious condition, while the driver of the commercial truck was uninjured.
Hwy 1 was closed overnight between Revelstoke and Golden as police investigated and cleaned up the scene. It reopened early Wednesday morning.
The Revelstoke RCMP and BCHP are collaborating on the investigation to determine the cause of the collision.
