A popular spot for food amongst summer travellers on the Coquihalla is now open for business.
Today is opening day for The Lunch Bucket food truck, offering people a place to stop for food, drinks and treats while driving the busy route.
It’s located at the Zopkios brake check, roughly halfway between Merritt and Hope in the middle of the Coquihalla summit and snowshed hill.
Run by Jennifer Hepting, the food truck is a perfect spot for long-haul truckers to grab a quick bite without having to stray off their route.
But it has also become a very popular spot for the general travelling public to stop and eat on their way from the Interior to the coast, or vice versa.
“Such great food! Love the people that run it too! Would highly recommend to anyone travelling through that part of the highway,” wrote one commenter on the Coquihalla Road Reports Facebook group.
The Lunch Bucket menu features plenty of options, like burgers, smokies, hot dogs, sandwiches and fish and chips, along with a number of all-day breakfast selections.
You can also get a variety of hot and cold beverages and even an ice cream treat.
Summer hours for The Lunch Bucket are 8 am until 7 pm on weekdays and 10 am until 6 pm on weekends.
