Proving once again that food and wine are a match made in heaven, four Okanagan winery restaurants have popped up on a list of the top 100 eateries in Canada.
"In 2023, folks from the Okanagan (and tourists galore, too) loved eating at Home Block at CedarCreek Estate Winery (in Kelowna), Old Vines Restaurant at Quails' Gate Winery (in West Kelowna), Terrace Restaurant at Mission Hill Family Estate (in West Kelowna) and The Restaurant at Phantom Creek Estates (in Oliver)," said a news releases issued by OpenTable.
OpenTable is the leading online platform restaurants around the world use for reservations, payments and guest feedback.
In fact, it's that guest feedback that allows OpenTable to compile the top 100 restaurants in Canada for 2023 based on 1.1 million diner reviews and other dining metrics (such as searches, advance reservations and alert sets) from Sept. 1, 2022 to Aug. 31, 2023.
OpenTable releases the list in alphabetical order, so restaurants aren't ranked No. 1 through 100.
OpenTable released the list as the festive season kicks off to give Canadians inspiration for holiday dining and get-togethers.
Some of the trending keywords Canadians used this year to find favourite restaurants included 'good vibes' and 'family-friendly,' proving that the two terms don't have to be mutually exclusive.
For instance, you'll find good vibes, incredible food and drink, jaw-dropping views and attentive service at the four Okanagan winery restaurants that made the top 100 list.
But, you can still bring your kids and the whole family along to enjoy the atmosphere, eats and vistas.
On the menu at Home Block at CedarCreek, chef Neil Taylor recommends the heirloom tomato salad with the 2019 Estate Pinot Gris and the flat-iron steak accompanied by the 2019 Estate Meritage.
At Old Vines at Quails' Gate you can enjoy oysters on the half shell with 2022 Chenin Blanc and bison carpaccio with 2022 Pinot Noir.
Chef Alessa Valdez at The Restaurant at Phantom Creek makes a beef tartare that pairs nicely with the 20219 Kobau Cabernet Franc and a rabbit and quail terrine matched with 2022 Riesling.
The outdoor Terrace Restaurant at Mission Hill is now closed for the season.
