The Perfect Waterfall Road trip for the waterfall enthusiast!

Trail: Begbie Falls

Description:

Crystal clear water and the sounds of rushing water gets me every time and Begbie Falls is just that!

From the Begbie Falls Rec site, the trail is short and manageable. As we began, the path lead us down a fairly steep hill with the occasional wooden step. During spring run off, the mist is strong and can make this trail a little slippery!

Within five minutes we came to a sign, pointing the way to the falls. Soon we were at the viewing platform, offering a fantastic view of the falls! From the top of the falls, Begbie Creek splits off and falls over the rocks edge creating two waterfalls for everybody's viewing pleasure. As you may guess, in spring run off, it is hard to get close to the platform without getting soaked from the mist.

After taking some photos and enjoying the falls, we headed back along the trail to the 'Falls' sign. From here, we went right following the creek as it empties into the Upper Arrow Lake. The views are beautiful! Looking over the Lake and towards Revelstoke Mountain, it's a perfect place for a picnic!

The trail to Begbie Falls is a very small portion of the surrounding trails. The Begbie Creek Trail, follows the creek for 2km and meets up with the shorter trail from Begbie Falls Rec site. There is also a lot of multi-use trails in the area that are popular for mountain biking and rock climbers.

Directions:

Begbie Falls Rec Site:

Located in Revelstoke, turn right onto Hwy 23. Follow for approximately 3km and turn left onto Mount Begbie Road. Follow the paved road and continue on as it turns into a gravel road. From here the parking lot is two kilometres away. The road gets narrow and fairly bumpy.
Begbie Creek Trail: Follow Hwy 23 for 9 km and the parking lot will be on the left-hand side of the Hwy.

If you are a 'waterfall junkie' like me, why not combine this trail with a couple others to create the perfect waterfall road trip! Sicamous Creek, The Last Spike, Mosses Falls, and Sutherland Falls, are all in the same area or along the way so you can make a full day of it! My record is 6 different waterfall locations in one day, can you beat it!?

Always remember to be aware of your surroundings, pack out what you pack in, stick to the trails and Happy Exploring!
