It's finally happening—the local documentary “The Paddler” is premiering Saturday at Kelowna Community Theatre.
The documentary follows Kelowna paddler Bob Purdy as he tries to change the way we live on the Earth. This project by Carey Missler and DCD Productions looks at how Purdy has been going to Okanagan Lake every morning with his stand up paddle board for the past 12 months to bring awareness to the planet.
Purdy is dedicated to keeping British Columbia beautiful, and part of the movie looks at the risk of oil spills through pipelines or tankers. He's the founder of “World Paddle for the Planet Day”, which is a global initiative to send a “wave of change” around the world.

Tickets for the premiere are available on DCD Productions' website. The evening will start with drinks and socializing at 6 p.m. at Kelowna Community Theatre, along with some giving away of prizes. The hour-long film will then be screened, after which the audience will go to an after party a few blocks away at Bacaro.
Tickets are $10 pre-sale, or $15 at the door on January 24th.
