Townhouses proposed for Kelowna property

A rezoning application for a townhouse project has been submitted at Kelowna city hall.

Innocept Developments are looking to rezone 1508 Highland Drive North from the MF1 - Infill Housing zone to MF2 - Townhouse Housing zone.

According to the application, the proposed project would see 19 townhouses built on the 0.6 acre lot, which currently has a single family house on site.

“This initiative addresses the growing demand for housing in the region, providing diverse housing options,” the application says.

All the units would have three bedrooms, which could give this application the advantage when city council gives initial consideration. This property is within walking distance to Bankhead elementary and several parks.

The developer says they will be incorporating green spaces throughout the development, including communal courtyards, pocket parks, and landscaped pathways.

Architectural plans suggest that each unit would have a garage and there would be four visitor parking stalls.

There would be no variances requested.

This application was submitted on May 9 and circulated around the city’s planning department on May 10.

More information may be required before staff prepare a report for council to consider.
