The affordable housing project in the Central Green development is moving forward.
On Monday, Council approved the 60-year land lease to the Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society for the construction of the affordable housing units in the Central Green development. The lease is for 1745 Chapman Place, an area that has always been identified by BC Housing for an affordable housing development. Compensation for this lease is $10.

The plan is to construct 86 units for rental, all of which are termed affordable. The Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society, who is building and operating the units, has more than 40 years of experience in providing support and housing services to First Nations people and individuals in need in Kelowna. The affordable housing development is part of the larger, city-led development at the Central Green Site.
Monday's endorsement will let the group begin construction, which is expected to complete in 2016.
