Kelowna Paddle Centre Opens New Clubhouse on Abbott St.

The new Kelowna Paddle Centre opened up on Saturday at 3050 Abbott Street with a grand celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony. Local dignitaries were present, including the Deputy Mayor, Tracy Gray, and there were giveaways, a free barbecue, tours of the facilities, and demos of all of the club’s types of equipment.

The Paddle Centre promises to be a hub of local watersports activity, as it’s a non-profit group offering highly competitive membership rates to paddling enthusiasts. Kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and outrigger canoes will all be available to registered members for drop-in use, and the clubhouse that was donated by the City of Kelowna has been renovated to offer showers, washrooms and changerooms, a kitchen, and a living area that is intended to be used for yoga. Weekly paddle lessons and social events will be included in membership fees, and what with the long, hot summer Kelowna has ahead of it, all of the facilities are sure to see a lot of use right out the gate.
